Classroom Music

In music we sing, dance, play instruments, and have lots of fun while learning about music! All Phoenix students will have classroom music  twice a week on a rotating schedule. Classroom music curriculum is based on the Minnesota state music standards, and also incorporates pedagogy from the Kodaly, Orff, and Dalcroze methods of teaching music.

Music Methods

Kodaly

The Kodály method is a way of developing musical skills and teaching musical concepts using a child-developmental approach to sequence. Click here for more information.

Orff

The Orff method of teaching children about music engages their mind and body through a mixture of singing, dancing, acting and the use of percussion instruments. Click here for more information.

Dalcroze

Dalcroze Education is a playful, experiential approach to teaching and learning music. It is a process for awakening, developing, and refining innate musicality through rhythmic movement (often called eurhythmics), ear-training, and improvisation. Click here for more information.

Performances

All students at Phoenix Academy will have a performance during the school year.
